Agriculture supplies the clothing, materials and food needed to live our lives, and we’d be fibbing if we didn’t admit that we’re quite partial to the edible portions of ag. But what do farm lending and food have in common? The answer: Our passion for both of them! And, it would seem we’re not alone, if the excitement building for Forrest Pritchard’s second book, Growing Tomorrow: A Farm-to-Table Journey, is any indication. Luckily, we’ll all get to find out more when Pritchard joins us at the AgAmerica Lending booth during the Sunbelt Ag Expo, and for his daily presentations at the Hoss Tools Sustainable Living Center this October 20-22.

Pritchard was fresh out of college in the 1990s when he became a seventh generation farmer by taking over his grandparents’ farm. However, he was disheartened when a growing season’s worth of hard work raising corn and soybeans failed to net even a $20 profit. He then turned to organics, sustainable farming practices, and raising free-range livestock like cattle, pigs, chickens, and more. Today his Smith Meadows farm is a model for sustainable living and creates produce for area D.C. Farmer’s Markets. His website gives additional details.

His first book, Gaining Ground: A Story of Farmers’ Markets, Local Food and Saving the Family Farm, chronicled his farming adventures and made the New York Times Bestseller list, NPR’s The Splendid Table, and many others. His most recent book, Growing Tomorrow, out October 20, offers Pritchard’s first-hand accounts on the importance of sustainable agriculture, tasty recipes, rib-tickling stories, and more.

AgAmerica Lending is pleased to sponsor Forrest Pritchard’s appearance at the Sunbelt Ag Expo. Don’t miss his twice-daily presentations and his books, complimentary recipe cards, and other giveaways at the AgAmerica Lending booth. Just as we’re happy to sponsor all forms of ag, we’re also happy to offer our lending expertise to operations big and small.
