This position would be used to internally validate legal descriptions from the title commitment against the intended collateral prior to closing of a loan or servicing action.  The person should have the skill and knowledge to read and compare legal descriptions and compare the results against the appraised collateral and/or public records information.

Job Responsibilities

  • Examines and compares collateral parcel list against incoming title commitment legal descriptions.
  • Will identify potential discrepancies between the intended collateral and the property identified in the title commitment legal description.
  • Coordinate with closing, credit, and production to resolve any errors or risks expeditiously.
  • Will validate legal description being used in recorded documents.
  • Will verify legal descriptions for servicing actions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of legal descriptions.
  • The ability to research online sources to support consistencies with written information.
  • The ability to compare visual information (maps, plats, surveys) to verbal information (legal descriptions) and provide guidance when there are inconsistencies.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized individual with the ability to multi-task
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Travel and Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
