Director of Quality Assurance

Job Summary

AgAmerica is seeking a Director of Quality Assurance to join our growing team. The position is an essential asset to the entire company through strategic problem-solving and innovative thinking which will support business growth and enhance AgAmerica’s reputation.

AgAmerica’s Enterprise Risk Department provides independent assessments of the company’s governance, risk management and internal control environment for key stakeholders including the Board of Directors, senior management, and regulators.

The Quality Assurance (QA) function reports to the Chief Enterprise Risk Officer and provides independent assurance that the organization has achieved and is maintaining appropriate standards of internal control and compliance with all applicable policies and regulations throughout the lending lifecycle.  The role involves close liaison with multi-functional departments to ensure appropriate understanding, access to and the correct application of the QA methodology.

The ideal candidate will be able to adapt to new situations, work with a wide variety of department and people, take on new systems in a snap, and demonstrate extreme ownership.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ability to apply your depth of knowledge and expertise to all aspects of the business, as well as partner continuously with your many stakeholders on a daily basis to stay focused on common goals.  
  • Accountability for all test strategy, design, execution and reporting within a given program, striving for highest levels of quality.
  • Directing, performing and ensuring consistency of QA reviews; identify thematic areas for improvement; prioritize and follow-up on corrective action plans based on risk
  • Support internal and external QA review matters, including review of responses to external parties and presenting directly to key stakeholders, as required.
  • Be a change agent in the continuous improvement initiatives to deliver and maintain a best-in-class QA function, sharing best practices and lessons learned.
  • Establish quality metrics for the program and the methods for collecting those metrics and communicate qualitative and quantitative testing status to program management and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure test coverage of requirements meets acceptance criteria.
  • Support the QA in fostering a strong partnership with teams, sharing insights and value-added feedback in relation to quality results, best practices, themes, and trends.
  • Enforce project testing standards, tools, templates, and methods.
  • Assist with periodic ad-hoc projects, such as developing QA training.
  • Participate in, and/or facilitate, discussions to anticipate and resolve conflicts, and to ensure traceability and completion of deliverables when necessary.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to QA team members.
  • Drive program QA team resource planning to meet program timeline and priorities.
  • Provide direction and/or input into Program planning and project change requests.
  • Lead and manage credit risk reviews of various types of credit portfolios and credit processes.
  • Performs risk based independent reviews of all types of loan portfolios (including quality assurance document and underwriting reviews) to identify current or potential problems, as well as positive elements, regarding the assessment of credit risk and the administration of credit/loan exposure.
  • Determines the accuracy of assigned internal credit risk ratings and ensures other key data points are correctly identified and maintained to adequately manage portfolio risk.
  • Reviews and assesses non-compliance with policies and procedures, and determines loan weaknesses so that timely corrective actions can be taken, violations of laws and regulations and inadequate credit/collateral documentation.
  • Ensure credit-granting is properly managed with credit exposures consistent with standards and limits; along with established and enforced controls to ensure Policy and Procedures and limit exceptions are reported timely to management.
  • Coordinate the completion of risk mitigating actions and providing status updates of open/closed issues to senior management.
  • Identifies and recommends process changes as related to risk management activities.
  • Interprets and evaluates Policy and assures that proper controls are in place to appropriately manage risk. Monitors adherence to such policies and validates that exceptions are adequately identified, fully justified, and properly approved.
  • Maintains awareness of the current regulatory/industry trends impacting the credit areas.
  • Prepares departmental reports and other portfolio reporting as requested by management.
  • Completes all required training and special projects as requested.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in credit risk management, credit review, internal audit, or related lending or financial services experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of QA leadership/management experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field.  CPA or MBA, preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of QA methodology and tools, software testing standards, methods and conventions, and the product development cycle.
