Lauren Kiley is the Corporate Attorney at AgAmerica, joining the team in November 2019. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in communications from Florida State University and her Juris Doctor degree with honors from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals and is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar.
Lauren’s legal background is diverse, ranging from serving in an outsourced general counsel role to a government trial attorney. These experiences equip her with the acumen to approach her role as Corporate Attorney for AgAmerica through a unique and comprehensive lens. Prior to her role at AgAmerica, Lauren practiced corporate transactional law for an innovative law firm that provided strategic legal counsel to high-growth companies. Specifically, Lauren advised a multitude of middle-market companies on a wide range of business law matters, from entity formation to company acquisitions. Lauren ushered clients through employment law and HR matters, capital raises, entity structuring, and intellectual property portfolio creation and maintenance, as well as data privacy compliance, contract negotiation and management, and business disputes. During this time, she drafted employee handbooks and other employment-related documents, filed or prosecuted over 50 trademarks with the United States Patent Trademark Office, and helped companies develop robust compliance plans for the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). Lauren also gained experience in negotiating and drafting complex technology agreements, including licensing agreements and platforms-as-a-service agreements as well as numerous vendor and sales agreements. Throughout this role, Lauren maintained her strategic focus to ensure that the work she performed for clients served value and effectively advanced the business goals of her clients.
Earlier in her career, Lauren was a trial prosecutor, having tried over 20 jury trials, and numerous bench trials, to verdict. She then worked as an appellate attorney, successfully reversing a criminal sentence in the Second District Court of Appeal. Lauren has legal experience in the mortgage industry and, prior to law school, worked in the Transactions Management Capital Markets Department of Nomura Securities’ London office.
Lauren’s role at AgAmerica is a vital one as she manages the company’s various legal initiatives, including matters relating to contracting, human resources compliance, and company-wide risk management. She strives to support the company at large so that the farmer’s experience with AgAmerica is an effective, positive, and proactive one. Lauren is an active member of her community, serving on the Board of Directors for Explorations V Children’s Museum in Lakeland as well as the Tenth Judicial Circuit Bar Grievance Committee A.
