North America’s premier farm show promises to highlight technology for agriculture, the latest in equipment, and much more.

For those who want to see who is named the Southeastern Farmer of the Year and experience all that farming technology has to offer over a three-day event, check out the Sunbelt Ag Expo, held on a 100-acre site four miles south of Moultrie, Ga., on Oct. 16-18.

The expo features many segments of agribusiness where you can see how innovation and ag technology are helping enhance productivity and the farming lifestyle. The director, Chip Blalock, described this year’s event as a “showcase of rural living blanketed with agriculture’s newest ideas and technology.”

A highlight of the Sunbelt Ag Expo is the announcement of the 2018 Southeastern Farmer of the Year. This will be the 29th time this prestigious honor has been given to an agribusiness leader for their “excellence in agriculture.”. Nominees are taken from 10 states in the Southeast: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.

Education, Research, and Technology for Agriculture

With a focus on education and ag technology, this year’s expo will feature more than 300 seminars in beef, dairy, poultry, forestry, pond management, and equine and cattle management. New this year is the Youth Educational Challenge, where middle and high schoolers compete in a few different areas.

For those looking to sustain a yearly garden, check out the Hoss Tools Sustainable Living Center. Greg Key, who owns Hoss Tools, will offer tips on how to create a garden as nice looking as his demonstration garden, which will be part of the center exhibits.

Another crowd favorite is research farm demonstrations. The demonstrations will showcase harvesting and tillage equipment used to farm cotton, peanuts, corn, soybeans, and hay. One may be surprised how ag technology has moved to the forefront in helping the farmer to operate more efficiently, including better ways to plant and harvest.

Entertainment and Farming Lifestyle Attractions

For attendees looking for entertainment, the Antique Tractor Parade, the Stock Dog Trials, and Cow Milking Contest are must-dos during the show. The expo will also have an area set up for test drives, whether that be on a tractor, truck, or ATV.

At AgAmerica Lending, we love the land and care about the farmers and ranchers who are stewards of it.
