Florida agriculture’s future leaders will be at the Young Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Conference this July 14th-16th.

Like most state’s ag industries, Florida’s agriculture industry needs young farmers interested in stepping into the boots of the state’s retiring farmers and ranchers. It’s one reason why the Florida Farm Bureau—like state Farm Bureaus all over the country—hosts a Young Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Conference. The Florida Farm Bureau’s YF&R Leadership Conference is slated for this July 14th-16th at the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center in Punta Gorda, Florida. Explore the offerings of this annual event below.

Details of the Young Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Conference

This theme of this year’s conference is “Hooked on Agriculture.” The conference features many events, but educational breakout sessions and seminars on topics affecting the ag industry and related businesses are the main focus.

Young farmers will be able to attend 45-minute breakout sessions on topics such as:

  • Real Estate Evaluation
  • Taxes for Ag Business
  • Florida Agriculture Trade/ NAFTA
  • Family Farm Dynamic
  • Technology on the Farm

Presenters include industry experts from the University of Florida and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Farm Bureau representatives, local farmers and business owners and U.S. Congressman Tom Rooney.

The conference also offers the opportunity for young farmers to meet and network, building relationships and partnerships that will benefit them in the future. In addition to the breakout sessions and meetings, the YF&R Leadership Conference will also feature more casual networking opportunities including an annual Volleyball Tournament, a breakfast and a luncheon, an awards banquet featuring Guest Speaker Chad Prather as the armchair philosopher, and a party at Charlotte Harbor.
