Top 5 Farming Equipment & Tools for 2019
1. The AFS Harvest Command™ Combine Automation System
Unveiled at the 2018 Farm Progress Show in Boone, Iowa by global agriculture equipment manufacturer Case IH, features 16 sensors that use exclusive technology to allow “even the inexperienced operator to achieve the productivity of an expert”. The innovative system, available with the Case IH Axial-Flow® 250 series combine and designed to maximize grain quality and grain savings, monitors ground speed, rotor speed, pre-sieve, top-sieve, fan speed, lower-sieve, and cage vane angle position. It has a patented sieve pressure sensor to measure pressure differential between the upper and lower sieve for a better readout on sieve operation for operators.
2. The xarvio Digital Farming Solutions Scouting Application
Also revealed at the 2018 Farm Progress Show, has image recognition technology that can identify 11 known diseases and 11 weed species in the U.S. Through the use of the free app, farmers can take in-field photos and cross-reference the images in a database to identify the disease or weed. Within the next three years, xarvio Digital Farming Solutions plans to use the same image recognition technology to launch a “smart sprayer” that will include cameras that recognize different weed varieties and select from multiple herbicides, to best suit conditions and reduce the instances of over-spraying and weed resistance.
3. The Yield Center’s 360Sprint System
The 360Sprint System was designed for on-the-go liquid fertilizer refills and can load 300 gallons in less than four minutes, saving operators a great deal of time and enabling them to cover as much as 30 percent more acres in a single day.
4. The VISUM™ Fertilizer Sensor System
Brazilian manufacturer J.Assy Agricultural is helping farmers with fertilizer distribution in 2019. Its new sensor system uses exclusive wireless flow blockage monitoring technology to help growers enhance their productivity and profitability. Designed for dry fertilizer, this system uses vibration sensors – which are resistant to the effects of crusting, unlike conventional optical sensors – to detect product flow failures during strip-till fertilizer or deep placement banding application.
5. Trimble Ag Software
Finally, agricultural software is expanding in 2019, with the recent unveiling of Trimble Ag Software’s Farmer Fit option that bundles with its Farmer Pro software, to provide farmers the ability to track their cost per unit of production for each of their fields, generating profit maps to discern which precision farming practices are most profitable.
New agricultural technology is transforming the way farmers operate their land and manage their crop cycle and crop yields, as well as improving the quantity and quality of production – while using the same amount of land and remaining environmentally conscious.
