AgAmerica is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Retail Credit Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of individuals and businesses, analyzing financial data, and making informed recommendations on loans ≤$5MM. Focus shall be on development of proper loan structure based on understanding of profitability, cash flow, capital levels and industry dynamics tailored to each applicant’s specific needs.  This role requires a deep understanding of credit risk management and financial analysis.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of agricultural loan applicants by analyzing tax returns, balance sheets, cash flows, and other relevant financial documents.
  • Prepare complete loan packages to explain credit decisions, risks, and recommendations to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. This includes being able to communicate complex financial information in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Work closely with Relationship Managers to structure loans that align with the unique needs and risks of agricultural clients.
  • Develop customized financial solutions to address specific challenges and opportunities within the agricultural sector.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with agricultural clients. Understand their business operations, goals, and challenges to make informed credit decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in credit analysis, preferably within the agribusiness sector.
  • Proficiency in using Excel and/or Moody’s to complete financial modeling.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Word, and Salesforce.
  • Proficiency in reading credit and UCC reports.

Core Competencies

  • Understanding of agricultural practices, crop cycles, livestock management, and other aspects of the agriculture industry.
  • Ensure accurate and complete documentation of credit files. Maintain records of client interactions, financial statements, and other relevant information in compliance with organizational standards.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and emerging trends in agriculture and finance.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating efficiency, adaptability, and the capacity to make timely and effective decisions.

Travel and Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Ability to work in dog-friendly office.
